Sweater lovin

I'm kind of obsessed with the whole comfy, cozy, chic situation going on with Isabel Marant's Spring-Summer 2012 Collection. A large part of that coziness comes from her extensive over sized sweater collection she's got going on! Even though these would have been PERFECT for Fall I can see why she chose to mix it up for Spring by pairing them with shorts or solo as a dress (more so a blanket if you ask me :), either way I love them, I want them and I most definitely need one...

Here's to hoping that it will actually get cold enough here in LA to wear one of these amazingly comfy sweaters! If not I'll just have to bring the warmth with me to New York next year on my vacay. Stay cozy and as always keep it Golden!

I've got Gaga fever

As always, Gaga never ceases to amaze! She looks more and more stunning everyday and with her latest infatuation with dressing somewhat normal I love her even more.  She is being featured on the cover of Spanish V's Winter 2011/12 issue by Inez & Vinoodh.  They will be highlighting all of the contributors and icons from the past twenty years that helped bring Visionare to life, including never before seen pics from Gaga's first V shoot where she met Nicola Formichetti!

Can't wait for this one! Put your paws up and keep it Golden Gaga lovers!

Foodies Beware: Part II

More goodies headed your way!!! This time I've got a sweet tooth for something festive...

Reindeer Marshmallow Pops
These little guys are not only adorable but are super easy to make and soooo good! Here's what you need!

Large Marshmallows, Lollipop sticks or pretzels
Melting chocolate, Small pretzels
Candy for face (hot tamales, cinnamon dots, mike & ike's)

The best part of this is project is the option to be creative! Go nuts! First you made need something like a foam block to place the sticks in to let the chocolate dry properly. You obviously dip the mallow into the chocolate and after setting for a few seconds place your antlers (pretzels) into the top of the mallow (do you like my shortened version of mallow like how they used it in 'The Sandlot'?? hehe :-) Anyways, next you organize the face and remember creativity is key! The easiest way to get the face to stick is dipping each piece in chocolate first then putting it on. This will take practice so get ready to eat a few mallows yourself and enjoy!

Small Caramel Apples
All you need for this one is obviously apples and Werthers candies (a half and half mix of soft and solid Werthers original candies). Over low heat melt down the Werthers pieces until you get a smooth caramel mixture to dip the apples into. Take your apples and using a melon baller remove pieces of the apple and place onto a cocktail stick. Next drizzle or dip the apple into the caramel, let set and munch! So easy and totally worth it in the end.

Melting Snowman Cookies
I'm stuck on all of these cutesie childish desserts but how can you not love them?! For this one all you need:
Sugar cookie mix
White icing
Large Marshmallows
Colored icing or candies (decorations)

First and foremost make your sugar cookies...the more abstract and messy they are the better. Once baked and cooled off, drizzle the icing over the cookies. Now for the mallows you want them to be a bit squishy in appearance so place them in the microwave for literally a few seconds. Be sure to WATCH them! Place the mallows onto the cookies and decorate. Another super easy recipe that only requires a bit of inspiration.

Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies
These are pretty self explanatory...All you do is make some peanut butter cookies and immediately when taking them out of the oven place a M&M in middle for the nose, chocolate chips for eyes, and pretzels for the antlers. Enjoy!
Hot Cocoa Cookies
Last but not least...pure awesomeness! This one is necessary to make from scratch so get your apron on peeps because it'll be so worth it!

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt together 1 stick of unsalted butter and 12 oz semisweet chocolate. Stir until smooth and let cool for 15 minutes.
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Now using an electric mixer, beat together 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar, 3 eggs and 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract and beat on low speed until smooth. About 2 minutes. Add in the chocolate mixture and blend. Next you'll add the flour mix slowly, mixing on low speed until just combined. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.

After preheating the oven to 325 degrees, bake cookies around 12 minutes. You'll want to measure each one out using a tablespoon and then flattening slightly on the baking sheet.
While the cookies are baking cut the chocolate bars into 1 inch squares and place on top of a marshmallow that has been cut in half crosswise (this way they can lay flat).

Remove the cookies and place the chocolate face down with the mallow on top and bake an additional 4 minutes until gooey. Now you can add chocolate shavings on top, let cool and eat your little hearts out! Can not wait to try this one!

Keep it Golden and Happy Holidays!

Foodies Beware

Since it's so close to Thanksgiving I thought I'd spread some deliciousness your way! I'll be sending you some foodie love the rest of this week to help you prepare for some wonderful family time.  Get hungry!!

Pumpkin Dip
This just sounds so good I couldn't resist...Here's what you need:
One 15oz can of pumpkin
One 5oz instant vanilla pudding
6oz cool whip (low fat)
1/2 tbsp Pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tbsp cinnamon
All you do is mix together the pumpkin, pudding, cool whip and pumpkin spice into a large bowl and chill for several hours. Sprinkle with cinnamon and enjoy! Simple right?

Pumpkin Pie Push Pops
These are incredibly easy to make! Literally all you need is your fave pumpkin pie filling, you'll cook a pie crust separately, and some whip cream.  Crumble up pieces of the crust and layer the push pop with crust, then filling, crust, filling, top off with whip cream and enjoy! Also, keep in fridge until ready to eat to keep it cold and fresh. Delicious!

Pumpkin Hot Cocoa
Do I need to say more?! Perfect for cold weather and chillin with the fam. Here's what you need!

1-1/2 cup of milk (whole works best but up to you)
1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree, 1 cinnamon stick
6 whole cloves, slightly crushed
1 tbsp chopped candied ginger
Zest from 1/2 orange,1 vanilla bean
2 ounces semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate
pinch of sea salt
2 tbsp brown sugar (more or less to taste)

Now this isn't your ordinary hot cocoa and it does call for some planning. Definitely a keeper for family get together's! First you will bring the milk to a simmer over medium low-heat, then add the pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, orange zest, and vanilla bean to flavor. DO NOT let milk boil! Remove from heat and cover to let flavors infuse into the milk. Anywhere from 30 minutes to overnight, but if left out longer than an hour be sure to place in the fridge.
When your'e ready to serve strain the milk into a new saucepan, discarding the solids, and bring to a low simmer once again. From here you remove from heat and add the chocolate and pinch of salt and stir till dissolved. Add the brown sugar based on your liking and don't forget the toppings! Put some whipped cream, marshmallows, cinnamon or even more chocolate to give more goodness to it. Yummmmm!

Pumpkin Hummus
Since half of my family is originally from Lebanon (not blood related but part of the fam since I was born) I had to throw in this delicious looking pumpkin hummus recipe! My Aunt always makes hummus, pita bread and tabbouleh from scratch every year.  This will definitely add some spice to the family dinner table this year!
Here's what you need:
1/2 - 1 chopped red chili pepper, 1/2 kg pumpkin, lemon juice,
4 tablespoons tahini, 2 tablespoons cumin seeds,
3-4 garlic cloves and salt and pepper to season.
Serves 4-6

First you take the pumpkin, cut into cubes and saute with olive oil in a pan. Season with salt and crushed garlic and cook until tender. Let the pumpkin cool slightly then using a food processor or blender puree the pumpkin with the remaining ingredients. Bon apetit! Obviously there is room for interpretation with this one depending on how you want it to be seasoned.

My favorite part about the holidays is literally the food! I'm such a foodie at heart, I'd cook every meal of every day if I could! With holidays being my specialty I will have to try some of these out and give you guys all the deets.  Keep it Golden and Happy Holidays!!!!

Get in the giving mood

Remember those adorable Coca Cola ads with the polar bears drinking soda from a glass bottle???

Well Coca Cola is giving up their red can this holiday season to help those adorb polar bears! They've donated $2 million to the World Wildlife Fund and are asking every coca cola buyer to give back as well.  All they ask is that you text the packaging code to 357357 to donate $1 to the WWF.

Since I am very adamant about my Coca Cola beverage AND I'm a huge animal lover I will definitely be giving back this Christmas. It's so easy! Hopefully you all will feel the need to give back too! Keep it Golden.

The Fanning sisters are young, gorgeous and wonderful actors. They are truly a fantastic duo with elegance and an amazing taste for fashion, each with their own unique style.  Looking tres chic in Chanel Haute Couture check out the golden girls on the December 2011 issue of W Magazine.

Always stunning! The girls were interviewed by Lynn Hirschberg, photographed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Lori Goldstein. I love hearing these girls interview because they act so grown up at such a young age. Definitely worth checking out the interview of these two! Keep it Golden.
